Dubai: Dubai Municipality’s Health and Safety Department was declared a special winner at the 10th International Media Festival for Prevention (IMFP) Awards 2017 held in Singapore this week.

The department’s public awareness film on heat stress was selected as one of the nine best media productions from 235 entries received for the triennial World Congress on Safety and Health at Work.

The winners were selected by an international jury and Dubai Municipality was declared as a special winner in the humour, animation and emotion category and presented with the international media award, the civic body said in a press release.

Redha Hassan Salman, director of Health and Safety Department and Raed Al Marzouqi, head of Occupational Health and Safety Section were invited to discuss the Dubai Municipality project during a special media session.

This year’s festival received 55 multimedia projects and 180 films from 38 countries, from which, the jury shortlisted 38 films and 10 multimedia projects.

The media festival is a unique platform for attendees to learn more about the production, targeted use and impact of a variety of different media, as well as network with the makers, producers and editors.

The IMFP, which is an integral part of the XXI World Congress on Safety and Health at Work 2017, offers an overview of films and multimedia productions about safety and health at work from all over the world. It provides an opportunity for participants to present their projects to a major group of influential international safety and health professionals.

The special media session showcased animations and selected productions from around the world and illustrated why media is a vital part of effective occupational health and safety.

All shortlisted productions were screened at the IMFP Cinema during the World Congress from September 4 to 6, the press release added.
