Dubai: The Dubai Executive Council (DEC) on Tuesday discussed various features of the emirate’s higher education plan.

During the meeting chaired by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of DEC, the council looked at a number of proposals and recommended future steps submitted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority to improve the outputs of the higher education sector.

The proposals are based on an analysis of the current state of the sector and future key challenges in terms of output, governance, laws, quality of available human resources and budgets for researches and studies.

The meeting was also attended by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of DEC, and Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group and Second Deputy Chairman of DEC, and other officials.

The council also listened to a detailed presentation by Dubai Health Authority on the health-care services’ pricing system for the emirate. It includes an unbiased and transparent system for evaluating the quality of medical services, as well as an index on the costs for operating health-care establishments.
