Dubai: Abdul Aziz Khalid Al Jazairi was appointed on Monday as Director of Area 2071.

Al Jazairi was appointed by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future. Al Jazairi has previously held positions at the Executive Office of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and is a graduate of the UAE Government Leaders Programme.

The appointment was made following the directives of Shaikh Mohammad, encouraging young people to lead the nation’s institutions and push them towards creating opportunities for a brighter future.

Shaikh Mohammed launched Area 2071 on Sunday, in line with the UAE Centennial Vision 2071, which aims to make the UAE a model for realising creative ideas that better serve humanity.

Area 2071 is the nucleus of government and private sector thought, where innovative ideas converge with the energies of the youth to design a greater future for the world.

The zone will also seek to unify efforts and initiatives that target the future and will represent an umbrella that joins all government accelerators, Dubai future accelerators and the World Youth Centre. The project also targets large and medium-sized organisations that own laboratories to design future technological visions, tools and solutions.
