Dubai: The Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai (PCLA) is calling on all companies based in Dubai to coordinate with the PCLA to have their workers undergo free dental screening and treatment as part of an ongoing initiative.

The initiative was organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammad College of Dental Medicine, under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, in tandem with the PCLA. It aims at improving the oral hygiene of workers. Screenings and subsequent treatments will be offered for free by the dental staff of the Hamdan Bin Mohammad College.

Maj Gen Obaid Muhair Bin Surour, Deputy Director of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and head of the PCLA, said yesterday the committee is keen to follow up on workers’ health and well-being because they are one of the main assets of the country’s economy and development.

Maj Gen Bin Surour said that more than 2,000 workers are expected to undergo screening and treatment before the end of this year.

According to Abdul Monem Al Medawi, coordinator of PCLA in Dubai, companies are requested to immediately contact the PCLA on 04-7075005 or on email dlc@dnrd.ae in order to arrange for their workers to undergo dental screening and treatment.

“We are taking workers for their dental treatment every Sunday and Wednesday,” he said.

He said the committee has already sent 150 workers for dental screening and treatment.

“We want full cooptation from companies who can contact the PCLA at any time in this regard,” he said.
