Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday attended a ceremony held to mark Commemoration Day at the General Directorate of the Emiri Guard.

The ceremony began with lowering the national flag to half-mast and observing a minute of silence by Dr Shaikh Sultan and Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, as a sincere mark of respect for the UAE martyrs who gave their lives in the service of the nation. The flag then was raised and the national anthem was also played.

Commemoration Day falls on November 30 every year. In 2015, the day was declared by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a day to honour Emiratis who have died fighting for and defending their country.
