His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, yesterday (Tuesday) inaugurated the Umm Al Quwain Autism Centre.

They launched the national recruitment platform for people of determination that aims to offer job opportunities, which suit their skills and competencies. The platform will help develop the skills of people of determination according to the requirements of the job market and create a harmony between their professional abilities and vacancies available.

Shaikh Mohammad and Shaikh Saud toured the centre where they familiarised themselves with its facilities and equipment that consistent with the best international standards in the field of rehabilitation of autistic children.

They were briefed by Hessa Eisa Bu Humaid, Minister of Community Development, on centre and its mechanisms of work and its role in empowering people of determination, including individuals with autism.

The autism facility, run by a team of highly qualified Emiratis in various disciplines, falls within the national strategic initiatives aiming at empowerment of people of determination. It strives to meet the needs of Umm Al Quwain and nearby areas for integrated services designed for autistic children. It can also cater to the needs of people in Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.

Shaikh Mohammad and Shaikh Saud were also briefed on diagnosis and early detection services as well as early intervention, training and rehabilitation programmes.
