Spain manhunt deepens as Barcelona insists 'I am not afraid'

A statement issued by the UAE Embassy in Madrid and the UAE Consulate General in Barcelona asked the UAE citizens in Barcelona to be careful and to avoid crowded places.

Spain mounted a sweeping anti-terror operation on Friday after a suspected militant drove a van into crowds in Barcelona, killing 14 people before fleeing, in what police suspect was one of multiple planned attacks.

The Embassy said  that “we contacted the Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the UAE Consulate General in Barcelona for assurance on the safety of Emirati citizens and enquire about their condition after the terror attack".

The statement also urged UAE citizens, tourists, students, businessmen and patients to contact the emergency and hot lines and ask for any help in case of emergencies. UAE nationals can call the Embassy on +34915701004 or +34932408550 or +34669444444
