Dubai: The Dubai Police Airport Security Department recorded 1,112 criminal and traffic incidents in its area of jurisdiction in 2015.

The statistics were revealed during an inspection visit to the department by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief.

He ordered that a number of preventive programmes be enacted that would help reduce the number of reports and provide more security in their area of jurisdiction.

The department, he said, plays a big role as Dubai International Airport has become one of the biggest airports in the world, with 78 million travellers passing through it last year, a significant increase from 70.4 million in 2014.

The department has also conducted 128 training workshops, which benefited 2,288 people in 2015.

They have also provided 4,185 services to their customers, a great leap from 1,880 in 2014.

Maj Gen Al Mazeina praised the department’s high standards of security procedures and practices.
