Podgorica: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was received on Monday by Filip Vujanovic, President of Montenegro.

During the meeting held as part of Shaikh Abdullah’s official visit to Montenegro, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between their countries and means of enhancing them, especially in the political, economic and trade fields. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.

Shaikh Abdullah said that relations of cooperation between the UAE and Montenegro are witnessing continuous development, especially with the constant efforts undertaken by the leadership of the two countries.

Shaikh Abdullah then met with Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic. They discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the political, economic, social and cultural sectors, to serve the interests of the peoples of both countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in the Middle East and a number of regional and global issues of common concern.

Later, Shaikh Abdullah met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Dr Srdjan Darmanovic to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation and developing bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields to promote mutual interests.

Following the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Dr Darmanovic held a joint press conference, where the UAE Minister expressed his delight at the fruitful outcomes of his discussions with his Montenegrin counterpart.

Shaikh Abdullah said that the two countries enjoy many investment opportunities that will open doors for partnerships in various sectors, bringing great benefits to both sides.

The UAE minister went on to praise the air transport sector, especially flydubai services, for its contribution in boosting economic relations between the two friendly countries by offering direct flights to and from Montenegro.

Dr Darmanovic in turn expressed his delight at hosting Shaikh Abdullah, adding that economic relations between the two countries are witnessing a remarkable development, as the UAE is one of the largest foreign investors in Montenegro. He expressed his hope to see the number of flights between the two countries increase in the future.

The meetings were attended by Abdul Salam Hareb Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to Montenegro.
