NEW YORK: Ways to enhance cooperation between the UAE and the European Union in all fields were discussed between Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Vice-President of the Commission.
During the meeting, Shaikh Abdullah and Mogherini exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
Shaikh Abdullah also met British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson, Darren Henfield, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahamas, Béatrice Atallah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Madagascar, Angelino Alfano, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy and Falah Mustafa Bakir, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations.
During the meetings, which came on the sidelines of UAE’s participation in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Shaikh Abdullah and the officials discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost them in various fields including economy, trade, politics and culture.
The officials also exchanged political views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the latest developments in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya.
The meetings were attended by Lana Nussaibah, UAE Permanent Representative to the UN, and Mohammad Eisa Hamad Abushahab, UAE Ambassador to Belgium and Permanent Representative to Nato.
