Dubai: The Karama Medical Fitness Centre of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) registered 40 per cent less footfall on Thursday, which was observed as ‘A Day Without Service Centres’.

An official at the centre told Gulf News: “Usually, if there are a 100 people at the centre for mandatory blood tests and X-rays for visa renewal, today, there were only 60. Since we started Salem service last month for electronic registration and payment, we have seen a fall in crowds as the time taken is very little for the entire process.”

Maysa Al Bustani, head of health centres at DHA, told Gulf News: “I think across all our health centres, it was business as usual as we have already achieved compliance with e-services.”

Salem, the electronic registration and payment system, was introduced as a pilot phase in February 2017 and in a full-fledged manner on September 15. “This has cut the processing time to under a minute. People register, pay and proceed for blood test and X-ray as the screening is done in real time, after which results are electronically conveyed through email or text message.

“We had moved to smart processing long before.”
