Dubai: Nine-six per cent of residents in Dubai feel they are protected and safe, the latest social survey of the emirate revealed.

This result is the highest among Emirati families at 96.5 per cent, while non-Emiratis are not far behind, at 95.9 per cent.

The overall perception of protection increased from 92.80 per cent in 2011 by 3.20 per cent.

The figures were revealed on Monday from the results of the Dubai Social Study 2013 to 2014 conducted by the Community Development Authority (CDA) and Dubai statistics Centre.

The study covered 3,796 families composed of 1,328 Emirati households, 1,504 non-Emirati households, 464 collective families and 500 individuals from labour accommodations.

The survey, however, did not include domestic workers. It also didn't include visitors.

Khaled Al Kamda, Director-General of CDA, said the domestic workers were left out in this survey because a special study dedicated to their concerns will be conducted to present a better picture on their social conditions.
