Dubai Police have placed their 11 most wanted suspects on the Internet in the hope people around the world will help trace them. The 10 men and a woman are being sought in connection with crimes ranging from murder to fraud.

All are believed to have fled the UAE and international arrest warrants have been issued through Interpol. The website - http://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/wanted/EN-10mostwanted.htm - includes their photographs, aliases, nationalities, dates of birth and present locations, where known, as well as a summary of the 10 cases for which they are wanted.

The site asks anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Dubai CID on 04 2694848 or by e-mail to cid@dubaipolice.gov.ae. The fugitives are:

1) Bangladeshi nationals Mohammed Noor Allah, 28, and Mohammed Shah Syfuddin, 27, wanted in connection with the murder of Bangladeshi gold trader Sanjay Ram Acharya, 34, who was found stabbed to death in an apartment in the Naif area of Dubai on April 3. He died from deep stab wounds to the front and side of his neck. The suspects are believed to have fled to Bangladesh.

2) Pakistani national Mohammed Lodhi, 43, fled the UAE in July 1997 after authorities raided several premises in Dubai and Umm Al Quwain, including those of a company he ran, in which tablets and machinery allegedly used in the manufacture of the illegal drug Mandrax were found. The father of five was convicted in absentia by the Dubai Court of First Instance in June 1999 on six drug charges and sentenced to life imprisonment. He was arrested at London's Heathrow airport in January 2000 and an extradition case is currently being heard in the UK courts.

3) Aida Kalcha Baeva, a 33-year-old national of a former Soviet Union state, is wanted in connection with the murder of Emana Levayelemra, who was stabbed to death in her own apartment in 1999.

4) Indian national Madhav Bhagubhai Patel, 42, is alleged to have conned banks out of Dh371.5 million in loans using forged documents in 1999.

5) Damascus-born Zeyad Ahmed Mohammed Aabah Ji, 43, is wanted after drugs and equipment used to make them were found in his car showroom in 1997. He was convicted in absentia and sentenced to life imprisonment.

6) Bombay-born Rajendra Sarasheef Nikalgi, 42, is wanted for murder and shooting at pedestrians in the Naif area of Dubai in 1995. He is also wanted by India for terrorism, planting bombs and murder. He is believed to be in Thailand.

7) Ravjibhai Pavar, a 43-year-old Indian, is wanted in connection with the murders of five members of an Indian household on January 5, 1992. He was a servant in their apartment and allegedly waited for them in the flat before beating them to death with a cricket bat as they returned home from work and school. A bloodstained knife was also found at the scene. He had allegedly already killed grandmother Moolibai Kishenbai in the flat before killing bank employee Ramesh Sagar, his wife, Rajouri, and their two children, Jyoti, 13, and Jayesh, 11. Pavar fled to Bombay immediately after the murders.

8) African conman "Baba", real name Foutanga Dit Babani Sissoko, who perpetrated one of the most audacious confidence tricks of all time when he allegedly used magic to persuade a senior manager of the Dubai Islamic Bank to wire about Dh1 billion to his bank accounts in New York, Miami, Geneva and the Isle of Man in 183 telex transfers between August 1995 and January 1998.

He built a reputation as a generous philanthropist in the Florida Keys, even paying Dh920,000 for the Miami Central High School marching band to travel to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, along with new uniforms and instruments. Articles appeared in American newspapers speculating how he had made his millions. The speculation ended when the crime was discovered. The bank manager and his chief accountant have been jailed in Dubai, but Baba is still at large along with most of the money.

9) Tissa Mark Enos, a 42-year-old Sri Lankan, is wanted for the murders of Dikar Tabal Mody and her daughter Warna Komari, who were killed on July, 24, 1996. He is believed to have fled to Sri Lanka.

10) Roh Liyange, 30, is wanted for the murder of fellow Sri Lankan Roger Van Rooyen, whose body was discovered in the bath in his flat last year. The 41-year-old had a broken neck and had been dead for two days. The two men had worked together as lifeguards at Splashland, part of the Wonderland theme park, and became friends. Van Rooyen had left to work at the Aviation Club and Liyange, who had previously served with the Sri Lankan Special Forces, was working as a pastry chef at a five-star hotel in Dubai at the time of the murder. He is believed to have fled to Sri Lanka.
