The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) will honour Shaikh Ahmad Mohammad Hasher Al Maktoum with Dh1 million for winning the gold medal in the men's double trap shooting at the Athens Olympic Games in August.

This was decided at board of directors meeting chaired by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman of Emirates Group and NOC President.

The NOC also decided to honour Shaikh Ahmad's coach with Dh100,000 for his contribution.

The NOC board praised the achievements of the UAE karate team led by Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Al Maktoum at the Pan-Arab Games in Algeria, where they won six medals.

The board decided to nominate Shaikha Maitha, who won the gold medal, for the International Olympic Committee Trophy for Women and Sports 2005 for her role in developing sports among the UAE women and at the International, Asian, GCC and domestic level.
