Abu Dhabi: The Islamic New Year, which might fall on Friday, October 24, or Saturday, October 25, will not be moved to a work day, according to a circular issued on Monday by the Federal Authority for Human Resources (FAHR).

The circular issued by Hussain Ebrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Chairman of FAHR, referred to Cabinet Resolution No. 13 of 2012, which stipulates that an official holiday will not be compensated or moved if it falls on a weekend or another official holiday.

Al Hammadi extended his heartfelt congratulations on this occasion to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, the people of the UAE, and Arab and Islamic nations.
