Sharjah: A 31-year-old man was in a critical condition in hospital on Thursday after a freak accident in Sharjah’s Al Qasba area on Wednesday night.

The victim, who works as a photographer, got on to a children’s train to shoot videos and pictures. He was struck by steel rods when he suddenly stood up while the train was in motion.

He lost his balance and fell off the train sustaining severe head injuries, contrary to an earlier Gulf News report that the man fell from a Ferris wheel.

Out of danger

of An official at Al Qasimi Hospital told Gulf News on Thursday that the man has undergone surgery. His condition is still critical, but he is out of danger.

Al Buhaira Police closed the area and have launched an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, an official at Al Qasba told Gulf News that the victim was working with them as a photographer. He shoots pictures and videos for their tourist guide.

Police said the man had been warned against using the children’s rides to shoot videos and pictures several times, but he insisted on doing so.

He also reportedly approached the management office and signed an undertaking that he would be solely responsible for any accidents that might occur.
