Abu Dhabi: The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is planning to coordinate with the governments of all Indian states to enhance the quality of services of the embassy, especially welfare measures for Indian expatriates.

The embassy will convene a meeting of the representatives of state governments on September 13 in Abu Dhabi, T.P. Seetharam, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, told Gulf News on Sunday.

Although the embassy has invited all [29] state governments, the states having considerable number of expatriates are expected to attend, he said. Nine states have already confirmed their participation. “We expect more states to confirm n the coming days,” the envoy said.

Asked whether any new coordination mechanism with the states will be formed, the envoy said: “We will discuss all such things in the meeting. All suggestions to improve the embassy services will be welcome,” he said.

The Indian Embassy has huge funds in its Indian Community Welfare Fund, which is generated by a levy on consular services. Financial assistance to Indians in distress is given from the fund as per government of India rules.
