GENERAL Drug dealers caught with 12,000 pills in Ajman
Two drug dealers arrested for possessing and promoting narcotic pills
Dubai: Two drug dealers were caught red-handed in possession of 12,750 narcotic pills earlier this month by a joint team of anti-narcotics officers from Ajman and Dubai, police revealed on Tuesday.
A.G.H., who is from a Gulf country, and H.M.R., an Asian who entered the country illegally, were arrested on August 7 in Al Rawda area in Ajman in possession of narcotic pills.
The arrest was made after the central information department at Dubai Police received information about suspicious drug-related activities
Maj Gen Abdul Jalil Mahdi Al Asmawi, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police revealed the arrests came after a series of security measures taken by both teams.
The teams initially arrested the two suspects red-handed in possession of different types of narcotic pills.
The team then raided their apartment where they found over 12,000 narcotic pills known for their negative side effects on the nervous system.
Maj Gen Al Asmawi pointed out that the pills were smuggled illegally into the country with the aim of being promoted and sold in the UAE, especially to the country’s youth.
The two suspects were referred to prosecution to complete the legal procedures required after they were charged for promoting drug and narcotic pills.
Maj Gen Al Asmawi thanked Colonel Saeed Hamed Al Hosani, Director of Ajman Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department, for closely following the operation from the start.
He also thanked the teams for their extensive work in arresting the drug dealers.
Maj Gen Al Asmawi warned people, especially the youth, not to fall for dealers who try to promote narcotic pills.
He also called on parents to keep a close eye on their children and educate them about the dangers of drugs and the negative influence of bad friends, adding that peer pressure is usually the primary reason why youth fall into drugs in the first place.
