Abu Dhabi: A bogus website offering Indian visa applications online is still not blocked in the UAE — a week after Indian Embassy raised the red flag, XPRESS has learnt.

The website Indianvisa.co.in with the URL address https://india-visa.co/index.php that is duping applicants to pay service charges of $90 (Dh330) or equivalent, is still up and running at the time of going to print.

The Indian Embassy last week raised the red flag about the online visa scam targeting foreign nationals seeking visas to India.

“It has come to this mission’s notice that a website with the heading of Online Indian Visa Application Form and with URL address https://india-visa.co/index.php is available on internet. This website claims to have expertise in Indian tourist, business and long-term entry visa,” said the Indian Embassy through a press statement. “The original authentic website has URL http://www.indianvisaonline.gov.in,” the statement added.

The visa scam was busted after India announced visa-on-arrival and electronic travel authorisation to applicants from 180 countries, including the UAE.

The embassy said a few applicants who were duped turned out at BLS International centres after filling up online applications. BLS is an outsourced administrative service of Indian missions in the UAE handling visa and passport applications.
