Sharjah: A wide range of activities have been organised across the emirate to stretch the imagination of both children and adults during the summer holiday.

They include an Art Smart Camp, exhibitions at Sharjah museums, and educational events organised by the Maraya Art Centre, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) and Sharjah Museums Department.

The Art Smart Camp offers children a chance to enjoy a huge array of educational activities. Running until August 17, it has been organised by the Maraya Art Centre in cooperation with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority.

Maraya Art Centre’s Director Yousuf Moscatello said: “Two weeks jam-packed with art activities will have the kids stretching their imagination and getting creative in all kinds of inventive ways while having lots of fun of course. And it won’t just be about the art either; every day has a couple of special surprises in store with lots of fun games that will help them work in teams and make many new friends.”

The Happy Holiday Camp, organised by the Sharjah Museums Department, which runs until August 28, offers educational and entertaining summer programmes for pupils during the long summer holidays.

The 20-day educational camp offers courses in costume design, papier mache, sculpture and painting.

The event aims to combine fun with learning, offering a line-up of educational, entertaining, arts, and sporting activities that target children and young people to enable them to invest their leisure time during summer in useful activities and gain new skills.

Manal Ataya, Director-General of the Museums Department, said: “This camp aims to strengthen children’s abilities during their free time and motivate them to be innovative and creative. It also aims to provide an enriching educational and cultural environment. We have invited children to participate in activities centred on science and art with the aim of improving their learning skills and expanding their knowledge base. We are constantly working to organise workshops and educational activities that focus on stimulating children’s interest in science, arts, and education, and helping them to use their free time during the summer productively,” she added.

The activities are designed by specialists and educationists to help children nurture their skills and expand their knowledge.

Sharjah Ladies Club is hosting three summer camps to help children develop their physical and mental abilities, and increase their self-confidence and communication skills.

Sara Al Marzouqi, Manager of Collage Talent Centre at Sharjah Ladies Club, said that the summer camps organised by the club helped keep children occupied and amused and enabled them to relax and make the best of their time during the summer holidays and Ramadan. They can sharpen their skills and talents as well as network with their peers who share the same interests.

Alwan Summer Camp offers a number of excursions for the whole family. It’s located at Al Majaz Waterfront.

“Alwan offers an ideal venue for a summer camp that is not only fun but packed to the brim with educational value,” Raghda Taryam, founder and owner of Alwan, said.

“Children enjoy a range of exciting activities, taking place daily from 9am to 1pm, including indoor games, a magic show, hair braiding, face painting, cupcake decorating and fun art workshops,” she added.
