A family uses the elevator. Image Credit: Ikhlas Mohammad Iqbal

On the day of Eid Al Fitr, I visited Modhesh World at Dubai World Trade Centre. When I was leaving, I had to cross the road and decided to use the footbridge adjacent to the Convention and Exhibition Centres, to go towards the carpark area.

I noticed that the elevator of the footbridge had a big hole in it in the place of glass (as seen in photograph).

I advised my family members, and a few other people standing next to us, not to use the elevator as it was very dangerous. When I climbed down the stairs, I noticed a man looking through the gaping hole, viewing the area, with his young son sitting right at the edge of the hole. I felt really scared for them.

When the elevator reached the ground floor, I rushed to the man, to explain to him how dangerous his actions were. What if the child had fallen off?

I can only warn a few people when I am present in the area about this dangerous elevator, but people need to be more careful, too. I also request the concerned authorities to fix the hole by covering it with a some sort of cardboard or by fitting the glass in its place.
