Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Thursday visited the venue of Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) being held under the theme “Shine out” at Expo Centre Sharjah.
Involving 1,518 cultural, educational and entertainment events, the festival will run until April 30 with the participation of more than 130 publishing houses from 15 countries around the world.
During his visit, Dr Shaikh Sultan launched the fourth edition of the ‘Read, Dream, Create’ campaign which is being organised by the UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY).
Dr Shaikh Sultan praised the pivotal role played by the board in supporting children’s literature and instilling the love for books in children. He stressed the need to encourage children to read and innovate so as to create an educated society that makes reading a habit and promotes the idea that books are a development means and the best way to shape generations able to build their own future.
