Dubai: The civic body is urging residents to reduce their waste during Ramadan on beaches and residential neighbourhoods. The waste management department at Dubai municipality is all set to intensify inspections and increase their equipment to ensure that streets are kept clean and free from waste during Ramadan.

Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department at Dubai Municipality, yesterday said that its monitoring system has been deployed to work round the clock to cover all complaints, as well as to oversee the work flow of rubbish collection in all areas.

“Apart from our regular services of collecting waste, we have formed an emergency team equipped with advanced facilities to receive and take action on the urgent notifications and complaints, in addition to a special beach monitoring team,” he said.

“We urge residents to reduce waste as much as possible, to consume less food, and to adopt healthy habits during Ramadan. As part of our awareness campaign, we have also issued a leaflet to educate the public on how to reduce their waste,” said Saifaie.

“In the next few weeks, we will focus on cleaning drainages and public health utilities, which also includes the transportation of large rubbish, such as furniture, free of cost directly from the houses. This facility can be availed on requesting through the customer care centre of the civic body,” he explained.
