Abu Dhabi: A database providing information on marine trends in now up and running, and will help in coastal and environmental planning, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (July 27).

The database is served by 10 marine monitoring and surveillance stations along the coast of Abu Dhabi emirate, which measure a number of marine parameters, including depth, current, wave height and water composition.

The measurements are transmitted in real time to the municipality, and this will allow for early warnings of marine hazards. The impact of development on the marine life and resources can also be ascertained, and will help in urban decision making, the municipal statement said.
