Sharjah: Ever wondered what happens to old confidential documents stored at your local bank, school or hospital?

For five years, environmental company Beeah has securely destroyed and recycled over 2,500 tonnes of confidential materials for over 100 companies across Sharjah.

Recycling everything from hard drives, to back-up tapes, paper, electronics and plastics, Bee’ah has recycled material equivalent to saving 42,500 trees.

Since the launch of the Confidential Document and Date Destruction and Recycling Division in 2009, Bee’ah has been providing a mobile document destruction, paper shredding and electronic data disposal service that is designed to help businesses and government entities dispose of confidential materials in a safe, secure and eco-friendly way.

“We launched these innovative document and data disposal procedures to help curb the alarmingly high risks of identity theft and security breaches that exist today,” Khalid Al Huraimel, Group Chief Executive Officer at Bee’ah, said.

All of the shredded material is sent to the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to be treated after being segregated into paper and plastic, Najeeb Faris, Chief Commercial Officer at Bee’ah, told Gulf News. Hard drives are sent to the e-waste facility where they are dismantled and recycled.

The service provides a regular and one-time pickup, drop-off, and witnessed destruction of the disposed material. All shredded material is recycled before a certificate confirming the secure destruction and recycling of documents is issued.
