Dubai: Dubai Municipality on Sunday said it will gift 100,000 energy-saving Dubai Lamps to housing projects for Emiratis.
This was agreed upon when the civic body signed a partnership agreement with Mohammad Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MRHE) on cooperation in the field of energy conservation using Dubai Lamp.
The municipality signed another agreement with Azizi Developments as well.
The agreements were signed in the presence of Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, the civic body said in a press release.
Khalid Sharif Mohammad Al Awadhi, assistant director general for Environment, Health and Safety Sector signed the agreement on behalf of the Municipality while Sami Abdullah Gargash, executive director, represented MRHE and Fouad Azizi, deputy general manager, signed on behalf of Azizi.
As per the agreement with MRHE, the municipality will give the latter 100,000 Dubai Lamps to support its building projects for citizens.
The agreement also aims to build a relationship of cooperation and partnership between the two parties in the field of energy conservation through the installation of Dubai Lamp, which saves about 90 per cent of electricity consumption compared to traditional lamps. Dubai Lamp bulbs also have a lifespan between 15,000 to 25,000 hours.
The agreement stipulates that the municipality shall provide MRHE with the lamps for installation according to the projects’ expected completion during the period of the agreement.
The cost of installation shall be borne by MRHE. Cooperation shall also be carried out to conduct studies to evaluate the savings achieved through the installation of Dubai Lamp at its facilities during the agreement period, which is four years.
As per the four-year agreement signed with Azizi Development, the company will use Dubai Lamp in a number of its existing and new projects which will reflect positively on energy saving for longer periods and significantly lower costs in energy conservation.
