Dubai: Dubai Municipality has launched an initiative for domestic pets in the emirate for owners to benefit from the municipality’s veterinary clinic services.

A competition was held through which individuals submitted their entries suggesting names for the initiative and the winning name of ‘Pet Animals’ which was chosen by the municipality. The smart pet application was also launched as a platform for pet owners to acquire the proper pet care under municipal regulations.

Through mobile phones, owners can use the application to facilitate announcements of lost or found pets and run pet information via public and private clinics. The application digitises information and history of the type of pet owned and increases transparency of information between all public and private clinics. Additionally, it provides a comprehensive view of all places across the country that would be of interest to pet owners. In line with Dubai government’s goal of transitioning into a smart government and Dubai Municipality’s goal of ensuring the health and safety of society, the application was launched to spread awareness about the treatment of domestic pets.

Dubai Municipality also wishes to ensure the health and safety of these animals by providing a safe environment in which individuals of society are aware of municipal regulations.

The initiative wishes to also reduce illegal export, import and sale of pets by applying stricter rules and regulations for public safety. Through these applications, the municipality wishes to provide the public with user-friendly services compatible with all smartphones.
