Dubai Dubai Municipality (DM) is urging garden owners to discard their green waste properly. “Most gardeners either dump it in garbage bins or throw it on the streets which spoils the image of Dubai. We urge residents to educate gardeners. They can avail of our free waste pick up service by calling - 800 900,” said Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of the Waste Management Department.
Saifaie said the free pick-up service is only for areas that fall under the civic body. “It doesn’t cover freehold areas of New Dubai.”
DM collects nearly 300 tonnes of green waste everyday. “Part of this is given to Tatweer Recycling facility and part goes into a landfill in Al Ghusais,” said Saifaie.
