Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has started the verification process for companies that are looking to have their air/water-cooled chillers certified.

Companies that receive the certification from the QCC will be able to use the Abu Dhabi Trustmark for Environmental Performance on their products, indicating their products are in line with the latest safety and environmentally friendly standards

Sultan Saeed Al Mehairi, Director of Information Service and Engagement at QCC, commenting on the certification programme, said: “The product certification scheme for air-cooled and water-cooled chillers demonstrates our priority to support the Abu Dhabi government’s quest for energy- efficient sustainability through research, standards development and conformity scheme services. The scheme will support ongoing efforts to enhance energy efficiency and minimise consumption through improving the performance of air and water-cooled chillers.”

“As power usage for cooling currently accounts for nearly 20 per cent of the electricity consumed, the scheme will significantly benefit our emirate by reducing energy consumption and maintenance expenses,” he added.

The first company to have received the certification under the scheme is SKM Air Conditioning, one of the leading manufacturing companies for air-conditioning and ventilation equipment in the GCC.
