Dubai: Police in the UAE recently rescued a tourist who fell off the mountain in Jebel Jais while trekking.
A rescue helicopter was used to lift the victim who was found in a rough area of Ras Al Khaimah’s mountain.

Lt. Colonel Pilot Salim Bin Youkha, Head of Air Operations Section at the Ministry of Interior, said the European tourist was admitted to the intensive care unit at Saqr Hospital last Friday.
The tourist’s condition is reported to be stable.
Authorities urge all tourists and workers to take all precautionary measures for their safety while trekking on Jebel Jais.
Lt. Colonel Bin Youkha also warned climbers to carry special equipment and wear protective clothing, and to be accompanied at all times by a qualified trainer who can react in a professional manner during emergencies.
Safety precautions
Before residents decide to climb the UAE’s mountains or go on a hike, police urge trekkers to go through a simple checklist:
- Learn the basics of rock climbing on an indoor wall first.
- Inform the authorities about your activities, whereabouts and number of climbers.
- Consult climbing websites to get up-to-date information on local climbing sites.
- Bring a means of communication, such as a mobile or satellite phone, a whistle could also be useful to attract attention.
- Take food items on your hike.
