Kathmandu: Ram Baran Yadav, President of Nepal, has praised the efforts of the UAE Voluntary Medical Team, which is helping out in Nepal under the auspices of the Zayed Giving Initiative.

The Nepalese president was briefed on the humanitarian priorities of the mission under the chairmanship of Emirati heart surgeon Dr Adel Al Shamri and Prof Dr Ram Makaju, Head of the University Hospital in Nepal.

Yadav hailed the state of readiness and facilities of the Emirati-Nepali mobile field hospital as it prepares for its official opening in the near future. Representatives of several international humanitarian and relief agencies and senior Nepali officials were also present.

During his visit to the field hospital, Yadav met with bilateral medical, administrative and technical teams and was apprised in detail about services provided by the hospital.

Yadav also praised the efforts of the Zayed Giving Initiative and the Saudi German Hospitals Group and its partners who provided logistical support for the establishment of the UAE mobile field hospital.

He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the voluntary medical teams of both countries who, he said, provided a role model for joint action to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of those injured by the devastating earthquakes in Nepal.
