Dubai: Two people were killed and six injured in multiple traffic accidents in Dubai this week.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the traffic department at Dubai Police, said a motorcyclist was killed in Al Khubaisi area in Deira at 9.10pm on Monday when he rammed into a pick-up truck after failing to brake in time.

Early on Tuesday, one person was killed and two others injured when a minibus hit a heavy vehicle parked on the side of the road in Al Quoz industrial area 2.

On Wednesday, a pick-up truck driver was seriously injured while trying to overtake a four-wheel drive vehicle on Shaikh Zayed Road in the direction of Dubai.

“His vehicle hit the road divider and flipped over. He was airlifted to hospital,” Brig Al Mazroui said.

At 8.41am on Thursday, a car driver ran over a little boy in Al Muhaisnah area after the child crossed the road suddenly.

“The boy sustained serious injuries. He is recuperating in hospital,” Brig Al Mazroui said.

Also on Thursday, two drivers were seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road near Global Village in the direction of Sharjah.

“A van collided with a pick-up truck that had stopped in the middle of the road, which then hit another pick-up truck in front of it. The pick-up truck driver claimed that he had a problem with his tyre,” Brig Al Mazroui said.

Dubai Police urged drivers to be careful on highways and leave enough distance between vehicles.
