Ras Al Khaimah: Two people were killed and four others were injured in a road accident in Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday night, police said.

The operations room received a call on Thursday at 11:30pm reporting the incident involving two vehicles, police said.

Police said the drivers entered the new ring road which is still under construction despite signboards warning drivers from using the road.

"A 46-year-old man who was driving one of the vehicles and his passenger, aged 32, were killed on the spot, while two other passengers in the same vehicle escaped with minor to medium injuries. The 21-year-old driver of the second car, and his 39-year-old passenger, both Emiratis, received moderate injuries,” said  Brigadier Dr. Mohammad Saeed Al Hamidi, director-general of the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The injured were taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to the hospital morgue in preparation to hand them over to their relatives for burial.

Brig Al Hamidi appealed to drivers to take precautions, especially in areas where construction work is going on.
