Sharjah: A 58-year-old man drowned while swimming in Al Hamriyah area of Sharjah on Monday, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News on Tuesday.

The victim from Saudi Arabia was identified as A.B.A.Z.

The police operations room received a call about the incident on Tuesday morning. Police rushed to the spot along with an ambulance crew, rescue team and patrols. The man died on his way to hospital. His body was moved to Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, and later to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.

The victim was in the UAE on a visit. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

In another incident, a 42-year-old man drowned while swimming at Al Khan Beach on Sunday morning.

The Egyptian victim was identified as I.E.

Buhairah Police are investigating the incident

Sharjah Police have appealed to the public to avoid swimming in areas where warning signs are displayed.
