Sharjah: Two workers died in a horrific accident involving two vehicles belonging to Sharjah-based waste management firm Bee’ah, a police officer said on Thursday.

The accident occurred early morning along a road in Industrial Area 4.

Police said the accident occurred because the driver of one vehicle entered the road without making sure that the road was clear. His vehicle rammed the other vehicle leading to the death of the occupants of the second vehicle, the driver and a worker.

The victims were Asians and both were in their 30s.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital morgue to eventually hand them over to their families.

Sharjah Police have launched an investigation into the accident.

In a statement to Gulf News, Mohammad Abdul Aziz, director of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Accommodations (HSSE) at Bee’ah, said, “We are aware of an unfortunate accident that took place yesterday in the industrial area involving two vehicles from Bee’ah’s fleet. On behalf of everyone at Bee’ah, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time. We are currently performing an internal inquiry into this matter, and will cooperate fully with the authorities concerned to ensure a full, credible and unimpeded investigation.”
