Fujairah: A two-year-old Emirati boy was crushed to death after he was accidentally run over by a car driven by his father, Fujairah Police have revealed.
The accident happened on Saturday at the family house in Al Tawuain area of Dibba Al Fujairah. The boy was rushed to Dibba Fujairah hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. The boy suffered severe injuries including fractures in his skull and spine.
Police said that according to the boy’s family the incident happened when the child ran out of the house and tried to get into the car.
Unaware of the child, the father started the engine and ran over his son. He immediately took his son to Dibba Fujairah Hospital. Dibba Fujairah Police is investigating the incident.
The incident is the sixth of its kind in UAE during 2014. On January 8, an 18-month-old Emirati child died after accidentally being run over by his uncle in Sharjah.
On February 3, an 18-month-old Emirati child has died after accidentally being run over by his uncle in Al Ain. On October 1, an 18-month-old Pakistani girl was killed after her cousin accidentally hit her with the car in Al Sawan area in Ajman.
An eight-year-old Asian boy was killed after his 28-year-old brother accidentally drove a vehicle over him as he reversed out of a garage in Ras Al Khaimah on October 13. On November 5, a 15-month-old Emirati boy was killed after his aunt accidentally reversed in Al Ghail area in Ras Al Khaimah.
