Sharjah: A 5-year-old boy fell to his death from the window of his 12th floor apartment in Sharjah on Tuesday.
The Arab child, identified as A.M., died immediately after he slipped and fell from window.
He had been left unsupervised as his mother took her daughter to the school bus, a Sharjah Police official said
The mother left her son alone sleeping in their home in a residential tower in the Al Qassimyah area. After being told by a neighbour that a child had fallen from a window, she discovered it was her son.
The police operations room received a call saying a child had fallen from a window before a team from Al Gharb police station, including a forensic expert and paramedics, moved to the scene.
The child was taken to Kuwaiti Hospital at about 6.45am before being moved to a forensic laboratory. His body will then be handed over to the parents.
Sharjah Police appealed to parents to ensure their children are always under supervision and for them to ensure moveable items are never placed under windows or on balconies.
The police investigation confirmed negligence, said the official. The parent will be summoned for interrogation after recovering from their trauma.
