Dubai police helped an elderly German tourist to return to her hotel in a police supercar after she became separated from her tourist group in a Dubai market and nobody understood her German language.

The woman was in the Spice market in Bani Yas area. She approached a shop in the area for assistance and the salesman called Dubai Police asking for help.

Major Mosa Mubarak Mosa, deputy director of Tourists Police department in Dubai Police, said they sent a police supercar to the market to help the woman.

“She was trying to communicate with others, but she could only speak German. A posse went to her location and calmed her down as she was feeling scared as didn’t know the name of the hotel or name of the tourist company that she had engaged,” Maj Mosa said.

A policeman who spoke German calmed her down and managed get the name of the tourist company. He communicated with them and told them he was bringing the woman to the hotel where her group was staying.

“A luxury police car took her to the hotel and she met her friends who were searching for her.”

The woman thanked Dubai Police for their efforts.

“We have officers who speak more than six different languages and are doing their best to serve the tourist sector. With millions of tourists visiting the country, we are doing our best to keep everybody safe and happy,” Maj Mosa added.

About 1,399 tourists called Dubai Police this year on 901 for different enquiries and problems and officers answered all the calls.

As many as 1,918 tourists called police last year.

“We have 15 luxury police cars in our fleet. The cars are driven by qualified officers and posted in different tourist destinations spots in Dubai,” Maj Mosa said.
