Dubai: One person was killed and eight others were injured in three traffic accidents in the last two days in Dubai, police said on Thursday.

Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of the Traffic Department, said a motorist died and another suffered serious injuries after two vehicles collided in Al Aweer area.

“One of the motorists overtook a car on a two-way road and his car collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the first vehicle died of his serious injuries and the driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and is recovering in hospital,” Brig Al Mazroui said.

The second accident involving six vehicles happened on Cairo Road towards Al Mamzar resulted in minor injuries to five persons.

Two persons were injured in the third accident, a crash involving four vehicles, on Dubai-Al Ain road in the Nad Al Sheba direction. It occurred because the drivers did not maintain a safe distance from vehicles in front, Brig Al Mazroui said.
