Fujairah: A 53-year-old Emirati man died on Sunday night after choking on a big piece of paratha (flat piece of fried bread), Major Dr Saeed Al Hassani, Director of Fujairah media and public relations department of Fujairah Police, told Gulf News.
The victim choked on a piece of paratha, which he had for dinner at a Fujairah hotel.
Three people were sitting with the victim at dinner when the incident took place at around 10.20pm.
Two of them attempted to save the victim’s life and remove the bread, but they failed to do so.
They took the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Medical reports confirmed that the victim died after choking on a piece of bread which blocked the air passage.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family for burial.
