Ras Al Khaimah: A 33-year-old Asian man died in an accident involving two cars on the road leading down from Jebel Al Jais in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday night.

Lieutenant Colonel Talal Saleh Al Shal, director of the traffic department at Al Rams police station, said the incident took place on Saturday night when the vehicle of the deceased, which was carrying three passengers, flipped over on the mountain road and collided with another vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Asian man who was coming towards the top of the mountain.

The driver of the descending vehicle died on the spot.

Lt Col Al Shal said the accident took place as the deceased lost control of the vehicle as he was on the way down the mountain and the vehicle collided with another vehicle which was on its way up the mountain.

The other vehicle was carrying four people including the driver.

All occupants of the two vehicles were from Asia and are aged between 25-27. They sustained serious to moderate injuries in the crash. Lt Col Al Shal urged all motorists and road users to take all precautions when driving in mountainous areas and to abide by traffic rules for their safety and preservation of their lives and that of others.
