Dubai: Residents of a building in Dubai's Al Khail Gate community, where a suspected gas cylinder blast took place on Wednesday morning, were evacuated after a fresh fire on Monday evening.

At least three ambulances and two fire trucks were among the emergency vehicles that reached the spot, residents said.  The Dubai Civil Defence said no one was injured and the fire was put out immediately.

Tenants, including women and children, panicked and rushed out of their units after a fire broke out on the seventh floor of the Building 1-1 in the phase 2 of the community around 5.30pm.

"We heard the fire alarm and saw people rushing out. I picked the kids and also came out immediately," an Indian woman said.

She said she also asked her neighbours' kids ‎to rush out as their parents wchrisere not at home.

Another resident said security guards evacuated the rest of the occupants.

"We saw smoke on the fourth floor ‎when we took the stairs to come down," said a Filipina woman living on the fifth floor.

They added the civil defence team reached soon and put out the fire.

It was immediately not known what caused the fire and if anyone was injured.

‎Dubai police and building management team members started allowing residents ‎on the lower floors to go back to their flats by 6:15pm.

An Indian grandmother had succumbed to injuries  and her daughter is still fighting for life after the explosion in building number 39 of phase 1 of the community in Al Quoz on Wednesday. It is suspected that a gas leakage caused the blast that wrecked the walls of their apartment.

Some residents said the fresh fire which came close on the heels of last week's blast ‎made them more worried. However, they were relieved soon since the fire was not huge and the civil defence team completed their mission soon.
