Emirati brothers killed in car crash

The accident occurred last Tuesday while the siblings were driving on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road from Dubai to Abu Dhabi

Dubai: Two Emirati brothers were killed in a tragic accident after their car crashed into a heavy truck in Dubai.

According to Dubai Police, the accident occurred last Tuesday night along the busy highway of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road.

The two brothers were identified as Haitham, 25, and Mohammad Awad Al Zaabi , 24, who were from Ras Al Khaimah.  

However, the deceased’s family said they had been searching for the siblings for almost 36 hours, before they were informed by authorities about the incident.

The funeral took place on Friday, October 14, 2016.

According to police, the victims were on their way to Abu Dhabi, where they worked, when their vehicle crashed into a truck. The siblings sustained serious injuries as a result of the impact, and died at the scene of the accident.  

Police said that a third passenger was present – the owner of the vehicle – who sustained serious injuries. The passenger, a friend of the victims, was transferred to the intensive care unit at Dubai Hospital for treatment.  

Social media users took to Twitter and other online networking sites to express their grief over the deaths, while offering condolences to the victims’ family.
