Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) is sending 10 drinking water tanks from Amman to the Gaza Strip.
The tanks will be handed over to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestinian refugees in the near east.
Mohammad Atiq Al Falahi, Secretary General of ERC, said the agency’s effort in Gaza is in line with the instructions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to the UAE Suqia project to give top priority to providing potable water to tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza.
Al Falahi noted that the initiative is only part of the UAE humanitarian major’s Gaza operation which has already delivered food aid, shelters and clothes, as well as medical, healthcare and hygiene aid to Gazans taking shelter at UNRWA schools from the dangerous development in the strip.
ERC is coordinating its emergency water aid for Gaza with its delegations in Egypt and Gaza and the UAE embassy in Amman.
