Dubai: More than 80 accidents took place on Dubai roads during the foggy weather between 4am to 8am on Monday.

Dubai Police recorded 88 traffic accidents that varied in intensity, and received 859 calls to the operations room during the same period.

Brigadier Omar Abd Al Aziz Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of Operations, urged drivers to be more careful and attentive during bad weather conditions, especially during the fog, as traffic accidents are more prevalent in such conditions.

Brig Al Shamsi said drivers should ensure that their car’s windshield, windows and headlights are clean, and that their indicators are working before driving.

He said drivers should leave enough distance between them and the vehicle in front of them and reduce their speed in order to stay within the area visible to them. He added that drivers should only switch lanes when necessary.

Brig Al Shamsi said accidents happen during bad weather conditions that cause low visibility tend to be more severe.

People should follow safety instructions and regulation to avoid any accidents, he said.
