Dubai: A phone call from a worried mother in Northern Ireland to Dubai Police helped save the life of her son who was found by police bleeding badly inside his flat. The man had suffered head injuries after crashing into a table.
The mother called 999 and voiced concern about her son’s safety since he had not been answering her calls. Police officers took note of the address in Jebel Ali that the woman had mentioned as her son’s address before promptly heading to the flat and found him unconscious and bleeding.
Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, said the mother was terrified when she called 999 and said she hadn’t seen her son for six years because he had been frequently changing his jobs.
“We transferred him to Rashid hospital where he recovered. Later, we booked flight tickets for his family to come and see him. We always spread happiness in the society and help all families,” Maj. Gen. Al Merri said.
Meanwhile, the mother, Kate Ohralion, expressed happiness for the quick responce by the police when she called 999 from Northern Ireland. “I was looking to find my son and help him. I feared that he had had an accident because he didn’t communicate with us for some time. I couldn’t see him for six years because he was unstable in his job,” she said.
“The officer in command room calmed me down and quickly sent a patrol to my son’s home and helped him. I’m so happy to come here to Dubai and see my son after six years,” she added.
Ohralion met First Lieutenant Ahmad Mazyoud, who took her call, besides members of the police patrol in Jebel Ali who had rescued her son.
Meanwhile, her son, Gerard, also thanked the police for their gesture in hosting his family and helping reunite them after six years.
Dubai Police booked flights for Gerard’s mother, father and sister to come down and meet him.
