Dubai: Flyers leaving and arriving in the UAE encountered some delays as thick fog disrupted airport operations early Thursday morning.

As of 8.03am, at least 50 outgoing and incoming flights at Dubai International Airport were bumped off for up to more than two hours, Dubai Airports’ flight tracker showed.

At Abu Dhabi International Airport, more than 30 departing flights were pushed back as well.

“Severe fog in Dubai on 8th February has caused disruption to numerous Emirates flights arriving and departing at Dubai International Airport. Emirates urges customers to check their flight status," Emirates said in a statement to Gulf News.

"Emirates apologises for the inconvenience caused. The safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance and will not be compromised.”

At least 30 departing flights encountering delays were originally scheduled to leave between 7am and 9:20am. For incoming flights, disruptions affected those arriving as early as 5am.
