Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police’s Air Ambulance rescued four Emiratis and 25 other passengers after their boat broke down 60 miles off the coast of Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Police said the four Emiratis were drowsy and exhausted. The Air Ambulance rescue teams were able to airlift them, and a rescue boat was called in to rescue the 25 passengers. Necessary care was then administered to the rescued Emiratis and passengers.

Abu Dhabi Police said that it received a report from an Air Wing helicopter regarding a boat that broke down northeast of Marwah Island. Upon identifying the location, search and rescue teams were dispatched and the four Emiratis were airlifted to Marfa Hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Brigadier General Pilot Ali Mohammad Al Mazroui, director of the Air Wing Department, said the rescue operation carried out by the search and rescue aircraft and qualified cadres was successful, and pointed out that rescue operations at night are some of the most difficult operations carried out by search and rescue planes. He added that Abu Dhabi Police are keen on boosting the capabilities of search and rescue teams by enrolling them in training courses locally and abroad.
