Dubai: Nine people were injured in an accident involving 28 vehicles on Emirates Road in Dubai on Thursday, Dubai Police said.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department in Dubai Police, said the accident occurred in the Abu Dhabi direction of the road at 7.30am.
“Heavy fog was the main reason behind the accident. The accident caused tailback on Emirates Road in that direction and traffic patrols interfered to avoid more accidents especially the visibility was too low,” Brigadier Al Mazroui said.

Dubai Police blocked the traffic on the road and diverted the trucks to the designated parking areas. More patrols spread on the road to warn other drivers to slow down and ease the traffic in front of ambulances and rescue patrols.
“It is important to slow down in foggy weather because the driver don’t have the time to use the breaks. The driver’s mistake in such weather can cost him his life,” he added.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Abdullah Al Qaidi, director of Bur Dubai Patrols and Lieutenant Colonel Ali Mohammad Al Badwawi, director of Traffic section in Bur Dubai Police station with a team police experts were in the scene.
