Sharjah: Twelve people were injured in a traffic accident on Nazwa Road in Sharjah on Sunday evening.
The collision took place as one of the cars entered the road without checking for oncoming traffic, police said.
The police operations room received a call at 9pm reporting that a number of people were injured after two cars crashed and one of them turned over.
Police patrols and paramedics found a dozen people injured at the scene, including seven Emiratis and five others of different nationalities.
The injured victims received minor to moderate injuries and they were moved to Al Dhaid and Al Qasimi hospital.
Initial investigations revealed that a 4WD vehicle entered the main road from a side road without making sure that the road was clear when the second vehicle carrying six passengers crashed into it.
Sharjah Police appealed to all motorists to abide by the traffic laws to avoid the occurrence of such traffic accidents and make sure that the road is clear before entering it as well as adhering to speed limits.
